Gaia Cable Car
Gaia Cable Car
The Gaia Cable Car is located on the banks of the Douro River, very close to downtown Porto, on the Vila Nova de Gaia side.
From the highest point of the ride, you can admire the river on its way to the sea, the Dom Luis I Bridge, the beautiful Porto Ribeira district and the red roofs of the port wine cellars.
The cabins can accommodate 8 passengers for the ride, which lasts only 5 minutes.
Where are the stations located?
Debes cruzar el Puente Don Luis I a pie desde Oporto hasta Gaia, por la parte más alta del puente accediendo a través de la Avenida Vimara Peres (see map here).
You can also reach Gaia using the Porto metro and getting off at Jardim do Morro station, located just a few feet from the entrance to the cable car station.
Once you cross the bridge (or get off the metro) look on the right side (towards the river) for the cable car station which is also called Jardim do Morro. Here is the map with its exact location.
In case you are walking along the Gaia side of the river, next to the wineries, and you want to go up to the upper deck of the bridge, reach the nearest metro station or sit in the Jardim do Morro, you can get to the cable car station on Avenida Ramos Pinto (see map here).
After the ride, you might want to take Porto's tram.
